Custom Walnut Butcher Block Tabletop

Handcrafted in Colorado from sustainably sourced American Black Walnut, our custom walnut butcher block tabletops are built to order for dining rooms, offices, studios, hospitality spaces, and custom furniture projects. Each tabletop is made to your selected dimensions, thickness, edge profile, finish, and project details.

American Black Walnut

American Black Walnut is prized for its rich chocolate-brown tones, elegant grain patterns, and strong organic character. Walnut can also include subtle red, purple, golden, or gray undertones, giving each tabletop depth and natural variation. Its refined appearance works well in traditional, contemporary, craftsman, mid-century modern, and industrial interiors.

Edge Grain Butcher Block Construction

Edge grain butcher block tabletops are made from hardwood strips arranged to show the long grain of the wood. This construction style creates a clean linear appearance, strong surface stability, and a durable work surface for everyday use.

Compared with wide plank construction, edge grain butcher block has a more rhythmic, striped appearance with more glue lines and a classic butcher block look.

Finish Options

Every walnut butcher block tabletop is made to order and available with a range of finish options based on the intended use of the piece. Choose from natural oil finishes, Rubio Monocoat, or more protective finish systems depending on whether the tabletop will be used for dining, office work, hospitality, or general furniture use.

Rubio Monocoat is available in a range of colors, which can be reviewed on the Rubio Monocoat color guide. Some Rubio color selections may require additional charges depending on the color, application requirements, or project specifications.

Measuring & Ordering

This custom walnut butcher block tabletop is built to your selected dimensions, thickness, edge profile, finish, and project details.

Enter your tabletop dimensions in whole inches, then use the “Plus” fields to add any fractional inch measurement. Width or depth is measured across the grain, while length is measured in the direction of the wood grain. For more help, see our sizing guidelines.

If your project requires unusual sizing, matching pieces, special edge details, base coordination, rounded corners, arced or racetrack ends, circular or elliptical shaping, or other custom details, include those notes when ordering or contact us before placing your order.

Lead Time & Shipping

Most custom walnut butcher block tabletops are built after the order is placed. Lead times vary based on size, thickness, finish selection, wood availability, production schedule, and project complexity.

Finish selection can affect production time. Rubio Monocoat, tung oil, and protective film finishes may require additional curing or handling time before the tabletop can be packaged safely.

Tabletops are carefully packaged for shipment after finishing and final inspection. Shipping time depends on destination, size, weight, and carrier requirements. Before delivery, please review our shipping and receiving guidelines so you know what to expect when your tabletop arrives.

Use & Care

Allow your tabletop time to acclimate to its environment before installation or final placement. Store it flat, fully supported, and away from direct heat, moisture, or extreme humidity changes.

Solid wood responds to changes in temperature and humidity, so proper support, finish care, and routine maintenance are important. For complete guidance, review our installation and care instructions.

Please Note

Because solid wood is a natural material, variations in grain, color, figure, and butcher block layout are expected and contribute to the unique character of each piece. Walnut may include chocolate-brown tones, lighter sapwood, red or purple undertones, mineral streaks, knots, and other natural features. Natural aging and exposure to light will also affect the appearance of walnut over time.

We recommend ordering a sample of your preferred species and finish when final color is important, as the finished tone of the wood may vary across finish options.

Enter whole inches first, then use “Plus” for any fractional inches. Width/depth is measured across the grain. Length is measured with the grain.
