It all starts with choosing the right wood and finishing it to perfection. Our Calico Hickory pieces are crafted with boards hand-selected for their contrasting blend of warm, medium-brown heartwood and pale blond sapwood, arranged together to accentuate the earthy beauty of this species. Hickory is a member of the pecan family, and ranks among the hardest species native to North America. It is becoming a popular flooring choice for those who are looking for a unique, modern space.

Our process:

We hand select this kiln-dried Hickory lumber and custom arrange it to create a beautiful and elegant countertop that will be a perfect centerpiece to show off in your kitchen.

Our End Grain products are crafted in an offset pattern to facilitate the structural integrity of each piece (as opposed to a checkerboard pattern).

Because all of our products are made to order, you can choose between a variety of food-safe and food-grade finish options to suit your intended use.

Please feel welcome to reach out to one of our staff members with any project drawings or templates and we would be happy to provide a tailored quote for installation-ready pieces.

Have additional questions? Our Sitemap contains a variety of pages dedicated to teach you everything you need to know about care, installation, maintenance, quotes, shipping and more.

*Please Note: Due to the natural characteristics of hardwoods, including grain, texture, and color, we cannot guarantee an exact match to samples or online photos. Slight variations in color are normal and add depth and character to the product. Other factors such as age and exposure to light can further alter the appearance of the piece.

We highly recommend ordering a sample of your preferred species and finish as the final tone of the wood will differ across finish options.

Artistic Woodworking Defined.

Written by Sean Michael Francis on Nov 02, 2015

The only word that can be used to describe the two pieces that Armani put together for me is "ART". The beauty in each piece that made up these end grain countertops is indescribeable. I have had many people visit my kitchen and look at each countertop and they have all been amazed. An industry carpenter that specializes in cabinetry took one look at the pieces and was at a lost for words. He exclaimed that in his 25 years of experience he has never come across such a beautiful countertop. At 2" in thickness, it transformed my kitchen and gave it a very sophisticated and upscale appearance. Armani was a couple days behind on production, however it was explained that one of the pieces did not come out to the standards that Armani was pleased with so it was re-done. As a fellow perfectionist, I had no issues with that. Great job, great service, and an even finer product.
